THE WORKSHOP

The EconoSpaceMaking Workshop will be all about designing and building a low-cost eco-building – which can be done in the average backyard without needing Planning Permission! This is an ideal way for people to learn the essentials of low cost eco-building design and construction!

Students will learn how to get their ideas down on paper; how to draw and make scale models; how to survey a site; calculate costs; choose materials; get a workshop set up and, most importantly, how to build! The unique ‘peter-post’ framing system will be explained, illustrated and practiced! Buildings costing between €5,000-€10,000 will be featured in the presentations.

Participants will also get hands-on making EconSpace componentsEconoSpace design.

So, this is not just some vacant theoretical exercise – it’s the real thing! Designing and making a low-cost building. Sharon plans to complete the EconoSpace with clay-straw. This technique will be demonstrated over the weekend.
